    Text
First World War – 100th anniversary / 4 August 2014 / The First World War was a time of hardship for Londoners, a time / when the Capital’s transport system and its staff supported those / on the battlefield and at home. / Transport companies, their employees and customers responded / to many adversities including the loss of family members, friends / and colleagues, both in combat and during air raids on our city. / Ever since, our transport system has continued to overcome the / challenges it has faced in times of war and peace. / In remembrance of the employees who gave their lives, we lay this / wreath and pause to reflect on their sacrifice. / MAYOR OF LONDON / TRANSPORT FOR LONDON EVERY JOURNEY MATTERS
