Description | This poster was published by the Underground Group in 1930. It advertises travel to Derby Day, one of the oldest horse races in the world. The event was established by the Earl of Derby in 1779 and has always attracted a huge crowd. This image by Charles Burton shows a group of spectators who have hired an open-top bus for the day. Their fee would have included travel there and back, and parking in a special enclosure. |
