Description | Three quarter view of third class car no 390 of Metropolitan-Cammell 1898-Metropolitan stock. This car was originally a seven compartment Bogie steam trailer but has been converted for use as a driving trailer for electric operation. This conversion meant fitting out the end compartment with controls (thus reducing passenger accommodation to six compartments), and changing the axleboxes to a type which could have shoe beams attached to them for control cable runs. The livery features varnished teak, and there is straw coloured outlining to the panels. The roof is grey. The driving end has long buffers and screw couplings. |
