Description | Photograph is taken from shaft no.2 where squareworks timbering has been broken out from the shaft to create a box from which to build the cast iron rings at the top of the shot. The skin of the box is made of "faceboards" restrained at intervals by "sidetrees" which appear to be approximately 9 x 3 inches. At their base the sidetrees are stubbed off the cast iron lining of the shaft with "footblocks". A power cable runs from the top right to the bottom centre of the shot where more tunneling segments can be seen. |
