Description | An estimated billion people watched the televised Royal Wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer in 1981. Nearly one million people from across Britain and the commonwealth travelled to London for the event. In the run up to the wedding on 29 July, London was overwhelmed by wedding fever. References to the wedding were used to advertise almost every imaginable product. The bus in this picture carries adverts for JVC, promoting its videotape as the best to record the television coverage. The photo was taken in June 1981, when the adverts were launched. It was the first of the so-called Royal Wedding Buses. |
