Description	Workmen repairing bomb damage to the District line platforms at Charing Cross (now Embankment) Underground station. In the foreground, the surface of the eastbound platform is being replaced by wooden planking resting on timber struts. Two ballast wagons, filled with rubble and debris, stand on the eastbound track. Note that most of the men actually standing on the tracks are wearing metal helmets.
