Description | London Transport expected its staff to be smartly turned out when on duty. This full-length mirror from a Gentlemen's toilet at the Bus Training School in Chiswick reads 'Drivers Watch Your Personal Appearance'. A series of further prompts invites staff to check specific details: 'Cap Brushed', 'Badge Clean', 'Face Shaved', Coat Brushed and Buttons Cleaned' and 'Boots Cleaned'. Mirrors such as this, or with the more general instruction 'Please Check Your Dress', were fitted at most depots and garages. |
