Description | This painting is by the prolific Canadian artist William Kurelek (1927–77). It was bought by London Transport in 1952, shortly after the last trams ran through the City. Kurelek's image depicts a team of workmen digging up a cobbled street amidst the busy London traffic. He captures a glimpse of the work involved in removing the disused tram tracks. |
