Tour information
Immerse yourself in the rich design heritage of London’s transport while exploring a selection of posters from our world-class collection, and rarely seen original artworks.
Explore the artwork store and poster store at London Transport Museum’s Depot in Acton, west London with our knowledgeable volunteer guides, and hear the story behind London Underground poster commissioning, from its roots in 1908 to later collaborations with a diverse group of renowned artists.
All of our tours are aimed at an adult audience, but older children with a keen interest in transport or design may also enjoy them. Art and Poster tours last approximately 1.5 hours.
Topics that might be covered in an Art and Poster tour (please note that this is a working depot. Objects and vehicles can be moved at short notice, so it’s not guaranteed that all these topics will be covered):
The development of branding for London’s transport

Poster design during the world wars
The ‘Golden Age’ of poster design in the 1920s and 1930s
