Event description

Join us to celebrate the opening of our new Global Poster Gallery, and discover iconic posters and artworks after dark! 

Enjoy expert talks revealing the stories behind the artworks on display. Feeling creative? Print your own retro poster inspired by the collection, spread your message in a zine making workshop, or find your muse in a life-drawing session. Take part in a digital trail and explore our incredible exhibitions while enjoying a drink from one of our bars. 

This event is for over 18s only.

Zine-making with Kazvare Made It

Join a lively zine-making workshop inspired by Kazvare Made It’s playful book, How to be a Decent Human Being: Travelling Around London, and London Transport Museum’s collection of vintage posters. Unleash your creativity as we craft zines packed with visually captivating advice, from train etiquette to spatial awareness. Dive into a hands-on experience that combines laughter and learning, all while designing your personalised travel tips.

Poster printing with Samantha Foley

Transportorium, Ground Floor 

Print your own retro poster with designer Samantha Foley from Scene in London. Take inspiration from London Transport Museum’s collection of printed posters, set the scene with colour and use printing techniques to add texture. 

Life drawing

Find your muse in a life drawing session hosted by collective Bare Life Art, reimagining London’s iconic posters with objects from the collection. Spaces are limited, so please sign up in the Cubic Foyer.

Follow a digital ‘Battleships’-style trail that combines co-ordinates with line-drawing to reveal a mystery Transport for London poster.

Live Art Late Collective

Bring posters to life with an embodied intervention created by London Transport Museum’s Young Volunteers Live Art Late Collective. Find them throughout the museum, and experience posters through the five senses. 

Mind the Gaze: Train car, first floor 

Experience a performative piece: Intrusive staring is not to be tolerated. Enter the carriage and consider how this way of viewing and being viewed makes you feel. 

Travelling with Sound: Connections Board 

Explore the gallery spaces and the Global Poster Gallery while listening to an audio track that explores sounds of the museum created by a different audience.  

Aromatic Art: Info desk, first floor 

Select a poster and its scent. Take a seat and breathe. Once your heart rate has slowed, find the poster in the gallery and inhale its scent. 

Eat the image: Black taxi, ground floor 

Select a sweet. What can you taste? Explore the posters and match this flavour to a poster. Please tell us if you have any allergies. 

Sense your stitch: London By Design Gallery, Ground Floor 

Bridge the gap between observing and experiencing. Select some coloured threads that match the palette your favourite poster and make your mark. Take your poster out of the frame and into your own hands through the art of embroidery.
