Description | The Q-type was a very advanced vehicle when it was designed in 1932. The engine was mounted upright behind the driver and the bodywork was far ahead of its time. The sweeping curves and low profile roof inspired many later bus designs. This bus, Q55 was fitted with an oil engine and a preselective gearbox. Initially allocated to Swanley Garage, it ran on route 499 from Farningham to Erith. It was in service from September 1935 to April 1953. |
