Interview summary
Track 1 of 1 [00:36:30]. Kyle Scorgie (KS) was born in Harare in Zimbabwe on 19th October 1986. Her dad was a farmer and mum was a book keeper, they moved to England 13 years ago (2004). KS strongest subject in school was art and she enjoyed drawing. In school KS thought she would like to do child psychology, bringing art into it. KS studied BA Woven Textiles at Loughborough University and continued to study Woven Textiles on an MA course at the Royal College of Art. [00:03:32] KS interned at Linton Tweeds during her second and third year at Loughborough University, where she worked in a mill learning how they mass produce fabrics for high end brands such as Chanel. KS talks about interning for a high-end rug and upholstery mill in Guatemala during her MA Degree, learning how to communicate despite a language barrier. [00:04:49] KS explains that PriestmanGoode was her first job after University and that she has now been there for five years. KS explains that PriestmanGoode are a design company who specialise in aviation, rail, cruise liners, hotels and products. KS describes her role at PriestmanGoode in the Colour, Material and Finish department and what that entails. KS discusses the limitations and restrictions that need to be considered when working with different materials. KS explains how she has gained more responsibility and has progressed to Senior Colour Materials and Finish Designer.
