Description | This photo was taken in 1970 to record the completion of the garage improvements at Hounslow. The canopy gave waiting passengers protection. Its design was innovative. It was built of reinforced concrete over cantilevered beams. The zigzag effect created drainage valleys for rainwater to run off. The work was part of a larger programme, and a similar canopy was built at Victoria station. The buses shown in this photo are a mixture of RM-, RF- and RT-types. |
