Description | Interior view of the canteen at Turnpike Lane, which opened on 20 March 1933. The snack bar design features a U-shaped counter, the open side of the U being attached to the wall. Mahogany stools surround the bench which is made of white vitrolite with a black vitrolite top. Free standing in the centre of the counter is a table with tea urn and a cash till. Customers are seated at the counter, and two female members of canteen staff stand behind the tea urn. Framed Underground posters can be seen on the walls. |
