Description | 'The People' horse tram at the eastern end of Victoria Street, on the single line section opened by George Francis Train. Section opened in 1861. Nearside view of the tram. This was London's second tramway, and like the first in Bayswater Road, which was also built by Train, did not last long because the rails protruded above the road surface. The tram itself is full, and people are crowding round the rear of the vehicle and in the first floor windows of the building behind. |
