    1956 - Miss Rose Alexander joined London Transport as a clippie at Holloway Road (15 years), then Edmonton (3 years). August 1974 - Rose Alexander (age 48) became the first female bus inspector in London. She trained both in Chiswick and with the revenue office at Vauxhall. After training she was appointed to the E2 area traffic office at Clapton garage, joining the road supervisory staff. Soon after Rose, two more female inspectors were appointed, Betty Bannister and Phyllis Hinkson, former clippies at Kingston and Willesden garages respectively.
