    Biography
Melanie Ogden was brought up in Shropshire and was interested in egineering from a young age. She studied Physics, Maths, Chemistry and Geography at A levels before she went to Leeds University to study Civil and environmental engineering in 2007. After university she completed a Master degree during which she took a module covering transport. This led her to apply for a graduate scheme with Transport for London; a rotational programme for graduates to experience all aspects of engineering work. In September 2011 she began the three year scheme which, for the first six months, focused on the 2012 Olympics. She was immediately put on a project for remediation works on the Hammersmith Flyover. Following this, Melanie worked for London Buses completing smaller projects such as repairs to bus shelters. During her time with London Buses she looked at bringing in innovative ways of reducing emissions by looking at electric buses. During the 2012 Olympics, Melanie was a Team leader for Travel Ambassadors. Her main duty was to train the ambassadors. After the Olympics, she joined the London Underground bridge and structures design team and designed two bridge deck replacements for Earls Court station. Melanie then got involved with the Crossrail project for six months. She was responsible for the pre-tunnelling enabling works. After working for a short period as a Commercial Manager, she was charted with the Institute of Engineers and moved to the Northern line extension project where she is a Project Manager. Here she delivers a programme building two new junctions at Kennington.
