Description | Map Of The Electric Railways Of London. A paper edition of the geographic style Underground map. It shows all the Underground lines belonging to the Underground Group with the addition of the Metropolitan Railway. The map shows all lines in their entirety except the Metropolitan line which is shown as far as Harrow-on-the-Hill and the Eastbound District line which is shown to Bow Road, stations beyond the boundaries of the map are indicated in boxes at the end of the lines. All lines are drawn in blue and are not indentified individually, except the Metropolitan Railway which is red and the East London Railway which is coloured grey. Interchanges are marked by circles and a white line interconnector, main line interchanges are represented by a circle and a box and station names are all printed in black. Geographical features such as parks, roads and places of interest are marked with light black lines and the River Thames is printed in blue. The Paddington to Queen's Park section of the Bakerloo line is shown as a line under construction which will join the Bakerloo line to the existing L&NWR line. The Hampstead line extension between Golders Green and Edgware, and the Central London Railway extensions to Ealing Broadway and Gunnersbury are also marked as being under construction. The extension between Charing Cross and Embankment Stations is now included. The map title is printed in the top right hand corner with a reference key, there are also five smaller maps showing street plans for Westminster, Kensington, the West End, the West Central Area and the City. On the reverse there are eight drawings by Ernest Coffin, St Pauls Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, The Zoo, Kew Gardens, The Tower Of London, The British Museum, The National Gallery and Portrait Gallery and The Victoria And Albert Museum. There is also information about places of interest, Underground interchanges, a diagram showing how to reach Crystal Palace, and a theatre plan. The front cover has a solid red roundel with UndergrounD logo bar. |
