Description | This style of station seat, introduced by Charles Holden in the early 1930s, is still in use at a handful of stations including High St Kensington and Hammersmith. With seating on both sides, it is designed to be used on island platforms. This one, which incorporates the station nameplate roundel sign for Hammersmith, is believed to be a replica produced for display at the British Transport Museum at Syon Park. |
