Description | Metal meter with clamp and leather case. This meter is a mechanical device that measures the total braking effort achieved by a vehicles brakes. It does not check individual wheel performance and consequently has been replaced by rolling road facilities. The meter is clamped to a convenient part of the vehicle, is set and the vehicle run up to speed and the brakes fully applied . The braking efficiency is read off on a scale. This type of meter appears in use on an RT-type bus at Aldenham in the film "Overhaul". |
