Description | This is the original artwork for a London Transport poster. It was commissioned to mark the centenary of Shillibeer's omnibus service. The multi-tiered panorama, by Richard T Cooper, shows modes of passenger transport dating from 327 A.D. to 1927. The first tier starts with Shanks' pony' meaning using one's own legs. The next tiers present buses, trams, and trolleybuses. The chronology culminates with the Underground railway. The crest at the top bears a commuter sitting in a winged armchair. |
