Introduction

STARS Sustainable Travel: Active, Responsible, Safe

We need your help to make travel in our city safer, greener and healthier for everyone.

Earlier this year, we asked for you to get creative with posters, poems or comic strips to raise awareness of a transport issue and encourage people to make a positive change.

Congratulations to our top four winners who have all won a prize bundle from the Museum shop. You can see a gallery of their submissions below.

Winning entries

Evelyn Weston's collage of Active Travel

Evelyn Weston (5) on the theme Active Travel.

What the judges thought…

We were really impressed with Evelyn’s poster. Particularly the wonderful use of colours, the happy image expressed with the girl riding her scooter, and the fact that recycled products were used. There was a clearly a lot of thought put into it!

Gina Lee's poem/poster of Air Quality

Gina Lee with a poem the theme of Air Quality

What the judges thought…

The acrostic poem was creative and clever and expressed the important and urgent message in a passionate, assertive and enthusiastic manner. An air of Greta Thunberg, or young activist seemed to resonate from this.

Tara Satish's poster on Road Safety

Tara Satish (9) with the theme Road Safety

What the judges thought…

We were very impressed with the level of research that Tara had clearly put into her poster. Every aspect of our Road Safety campaign was covered, each image in the circle conveyed an important message, and the level of intricate detail was impressive.

Luke Trafelet's poster on Air Quality

Luke Trafelet (12) with the theme Air Quality

What the judges thought…

The image of the red bus and grey cars was a lovely bit of artwork and there was a clever use of colours to express the dirty nature of air pollution against the red London bus. The slogan ‘Ride the bus Rid the Fumes’ is very memorable one.
